Marathon Training Plans.
Training for the Dublin Race Series and Dublin City Marathon starts will begin proper in June. We will have three groups training this year depending on the time that athletes expect to complete the marathon. Athletes hoping to complete the marathon in less than 3hr 45 min will form one group. Athletes hoping to complete the distance in 3hr 45m to 4hr 15m will be in another group and athletes 4hr 15m plus will form a third group.
No athlete should place themselves in one particular group for the duration of the training plan. Movement between grouping is encouraged to avoid anyone being left alone, particularly on long runs. Athletes will have difficult weeks and good weeks , so should place themselves in the group that best suits them on that particular week.
Until the plan begins in June, athletes should be building speed into their 5k and 10k distances. This will give them an advantage when the Marathon Training Plan begins. All Athletes will be issued with a training plan to follow depending on their chosen time when we begin in June.
